THE ENSIGN MESSAGE

YET I AM NOT ALONE

By

UK

Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. John 16:32

This is what the Lord said as He knew His hour was approaching to become the sacrifice for the sins of the world. He knew that all, including His family and friends and even Peter would desert Him at the last moment.

Now, as the hour of His return approaches, do you feel you are alone? Do you feel as if the entire world is against you? So few these days know or even care about God’s coming Kingdom and its soon to be revealed King the Lord Jesus Christ, that we who proclaim such, may feel as Elijah did when he complained to the Lord that his fellow countrymen had killed the prophets turning away from God and sought to take his life also. 1 Kings 19:10

God said to him:

Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. 1 Kings 19:18

Elijah didn’t know about them but God did, even as now. Jesus went on to say:

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Jesus confirmed that although He seemed to be alone, He wasn’t, the Father was with Him, just as He and the Father are with all true believing Christians today. Notice He doesn’t say it is going to be easy in fact He says we will have tribulation (troubles, which include our friends and families laughing at us, scorning all we try to tell them and even turning their backs on us.) If they do this to the Master, they most certainly will do it to us.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. Matthew 10:24

It is disheartening, frustrating etc., because we tell them for their own good, we want them to live, but, just as Israel of old would not listen, neither will they today. But we are called to be watchmen and witnesses to the truth nothing more. It is Holy Spirit that convicts or convinces people of the truth. We are called to study and to teach, to proclaim, and if they will not hear then they are responsible when they come to stand before the Great Judge on that DAY, they will not be able to say, “No one told me”.

One thing we must do however they react to us, is hold fast to that which we know to be true. Do not despair, God knows how we try and He knows how that they will not listen, He will deal with them, we have done our part as faithful stewards.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23

We must encourage our fellow Christians as things get darker around us:

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:25

All the signs around us are indicating our Lord’s soon return, and whilst we are not to know the actual day and hour, it is obvious from the above  passage and others that Jesus intended His followers to know when it was near and He has given us the opportunity to prepare ourselves for His coming.

But as in the days of Noah, the vast majority of the people will not be prepared, and that includes our family members and friends if they will not believe, sad as it is.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:28

When Jesus asked the question: “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” He was looking down the ages to this time when even the churches have turned their backs on the “Faith Once Delivered to the saints.” He knew there would be very few people still believing the full gospel of the Kingdom and that it would be so bad that a true believer would be very hard to find – and so it is, even now; and we are not done yet, even though the time is short, there are still things that have to happen. But then again, things are happening very quickly now, so we really do not know how much or little time we do have. So we must be prepared every day to meet our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: l Peter 1:3- 7

… rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:13
