THE ENSIGN MESSAGE

LOOKING FOR TRUTH

As this article is being penned our TV screens are swamping the British public with news concerning the monster in the Kremlin. Millions of innocent men, women and children are being displaced because of one man. All they have left is what they stand up in. I have shed tears when I see the look of fear on their faces. I am though, heartened to know that essential warm clothing and supplies are being flown out to the troubled regions and refugee points in many countries.

There is a commodity that every Christian should be donating which cannot be purchased in the shops: our love and prayerful support.

Throughout history there have always been those acting under the sway of the father of lies, Satan. He has used as his tool one man’s smallest organs, the tongue. This is a weapon of mass destruction. Today we think of atomic power as the ultimate weapon. Certainly, we must not belittle its capability and potential. There is little doubt that rockets are ready for take off at the nod of the head of Mr. Putin.

I well remember photographs in the press when the first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. Miles of devastation and nothing moved. That bomb by today’s standards was no more than a child’s toy. I dread to think what the outcome would be today should Mr. Putin decide to strike. Thus far I have not mentioned the God factor. This is what stands between us and annihilation. I well remember the dark days of the 1940s. Sadly, there is a world of difference between then and the present. The resolve of the people at that time was 100% determination to rid this world of Hitler and his henchmen. The great British Lion awoke out of slumber and arose with indignation at being disturbed. Despite Churchill’s constant warnings to the government, he was told to go away and stop being a nuisance. How typical was this reaction! Germany began rearming shortly after the end of the first world war. As usual we were blind and didn’t wish to be disturbed.

Returning to the present, it only takes a moment’s thought to see that we are shaping up to another world conflict. Will it die down for a while and raise up its ugly head in ten or twenty years? Only time will tell. One thing is clear; we have reached that time in Matthew 24:7

“7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Yes, we are living in the last days which began two thousand years ago. World events are surely reaching their climax. However, do not expect the Lord’s return on Monday morning. Until that day does come, we are the watchmen of Israel. Our work is to gently and lovingly guide the unbelievers to know and accept that they too can have the gift of eternal life, made possible because of Calvary.
