THE GREAT SHAKING

Looking at all the news headlines these days it appears to me that we are in the time of the great shaking. What Spain, France, Germany etc could not do throughout our history – to destroy us, we are doing to ourselves. We are destroying ourselves from within. Because as a nation we have turned our back on our God, the foundations are being destroyed, [ Psalm 11:3.]
I have noticed that the words “Armageddon” and ”Apocalypse” have been banded around quite a bit lately, but not in the sense that they should be. The vast majority of people are NOT looking for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, but just the annihilation of mankind. And therefore as scripture says:
“Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” Luke 21:26.
 God says:
“Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the ea1ih shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” Isaiah 13:13.
“For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while (i.e. then still future}, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire (the Messiah) of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house (the new Temple) with glory_ (i.e. the Presence of the coming King of kings), saith the LORD of hosts.” Haggai 2:6, 7.
There is a great shaking going on now and our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that:
“Immediately after (Greek Metah. – that is in conjunction with, or related to) the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:” Matthew 24:29
This shaking means, the famines, the pestilences and wars which are going on now, with the lack of any real, strong, righteous leadership in any of the “Christian” nations. As St. Paul says, anything that has been made by man without God is bound to fail in the end including man’s aspirations to fame, power, riches, and let’s not forget eternal life, see the following news headlines:.

 Hope for infertile men as sperm is grown in lab from RAT cells in ground-breaking research. Scientists have now created lab-grown sperm cells which, after being injected into male rats, were used to create babies”.
Then of course there is the previously reported fact of pigs’ hearts being used in a human. Interesting that it is “unclean” animals that are being used to try and help man to live longer. I have since learned that sadly the man who had the pig’s heart died as his body rejected it.
To me these are horror stories, there’s nothing man won’t do it seems to try and live for ever, except the one and only thing that will give him eternal life.
The Lord God’s barring of Adam from taking of the Tree of Life, after he had broken God’s command, was as much a show of His mercy as a punishment, preventing Adam from life throughout eternity in his now degenerate form. To live in disease with famines, continual wars and wickedness is not a world I would want to live in forever with no way of getting out of it. Going to another planet would not help because the WHOLE of creation fell from its perfect and eternal state when Adam and Eve broke the one commandment God had given them. Besides we would only mess up any new habitable planet we found, such is the nature of man.
St. Paul says:
“See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused Him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from Him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:25- 29.
I believe we are in the time of the revealing and removing of those things and people that are against God’s commandments and coming kingdom here on earth. The scum is rising to the surface, the dross is being cleaned off to reveal the precious treasure – the jewels underneath. The tares are being separated from the wheat.
“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.” Malachi 3:16, 17.
It is a hard time getting harder for true Bible believing Christians, but it is also a time for faithful and joyful anticipation of our Lord’s return in glory. He alone will be able to give us not only that peace that we all so much long for but that eternal life also.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This is the only way to live forever.
