SHOULD CHRISTIANS SUPPORT SAME-SEX MARRIAGE?

Since the change in the law to allow same-sex marriage, Christians are divided and, in a quandary, as to how to react due to this change in the law so as not to be brought before the courts, as has happened to certain individual Christians even prior to the law.

Some churches, such as the Society of Friends (Quakers) are pleased to welcome and have encouraged the change in the law to allow same-sex marriage. While other churches like that of the Church of England, with their homosexual priests, are in a dither not knowing whom to please, God or man; and at present it seems the reasoning of man takes precedence.

Yet, the rule-book for Christians should be the Bible. We need not enter into debate on these matters, as the Bible gives the answer to this question and is very clear and up to date. God does not change his mind according to the fashion of the day.

“I am the LORD, I change not”, Malachi 3:6.

How about the Bible itself: is it true? ls it God’s inspired word? Can we trust it? If our answer to these questions is yes, then as Christians it is the Bible we ought to consult and uphold and not compromise.

Should Christians support same-sex marriage? The following quotes should settle the matter:

Genesis 2:24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”  [Read also Matthew 19:4-6]

Leviticus 18:22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it ls abomination”.

1 Corinthians 6:9 -” Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind…”

 As Christians let us defend God’s word regardless of the consequences; and whatever the cost may we stand in the evil day against the works of darkness. This darkness is inspired by the Prince of Darkness and archenemy of the Faith. It is Satan himself, who is a defeated foe and will be destroyed when his work in accordance to God’s purposes, is complete. Then the Lord Jesus Christ will reign victorious, in righteousness and in accordance with the law of God, as King of kings and Lord of lords for ever and ever. What a glorious day that will be!
