MALACHI TODAY
IT ought to be of no surprise to us, especially to those of us who believe in the Israelite Identity message, that the prophet Malachi and pretty much all the prophets in the prophetic books of the Old Testament speak to our day because the principle theme of the prophets is the Last Days. As we are living in the Last Days or the church era, some people believe we are living in the very last of the Last Days but certainly living in what the prophets referred to as the Last Days or the Latter Times, the church era or the Christian era, whatever you want to call it.
It ought to be of no surprise that when we by the help of the Holy Spirit read the prophetic books of the Old Testament we begin to see and pick up God speaking to us at the present moment concerning what is happening in our nation. I believe we have found this with the book of Malachi and other prophetic works, that there is a prophetic message for us today, a timely word from Jehovah if you like.
Malachi simply means the messenger of Jah, the messenger of Yahweh, or the messenger of Jehovah. There are a few things in here that I believe if you take this book and lay it as a grid over present events that are happening in our nation and the world at large, Europe in particular. You will see God speaking to us through this prophet and this tells us that God is more up to date than tomorrow’s newspaper. So I just want to look at a few things in this book of the Prophet Malachi.
In the light of two elections, I’m not speaking about “Hell’s Kitchen” or whichever reality TV show you watch, I’m speaking about elections that have just taken place, the Papal election and the election to Westminster of members of Parliament.
Let us begin at Malachi Chapter 1: 1-5
1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.2 I have loved you, saith the LORD.Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.
5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.
Here we see in these first five verses God’s election, we live (and I have to say this sadly) in a democracy. Democracy is perhaps one of the biggest curses to ever hit the British people. “Oh but we want the right to vote!”
Let me ask you a question before you take that argument any further. Who did you vote for in this election? Because whoever it was it can only be the best of a bad bunch, am I right? You did not get the member of Parliament you chose. As we prayed earlier for God to raise up the godly again unto Parliament we are reminded in our nation’s past particularly here in England when England was governed and ruled by the Puritans and they were the minority at all times. God chose them, but you’re not going to get somebody in this election who is anything remotely like them I can assure you. You only need to open the newspaper or watch TV to know that. But here we see God had an election, we often find this quoted from Romans of course about “Jacob have I loved, Esau have I hated.” As a proof case of those who believe in Divine Election, Predestination and so on, and Calvinists use this verse very often to say well there we have it, God says He loved one and He hated another. So then we see that God chooses one man to save and another not to be saved.
Friends, with all due respect to Calvinists that is not what the Bible is teaching. It is not the selection of individuals that is referred to here. It is the selection or election of a race, the race of Israel, Jacob Israel and the rejection Esau/Edom that is referred to.
If you read Romans in context you will see that that is what Paul was speaking about. He is not speaking about the individuals elected or de-selected. So in other words this is about national election God choosing Jacob Israel and rejecting Esau/Edom. Notice that God says that they are the people against whom Jehovah hath indignation for ever. Oh, I’ve just stepped on a few theological toes! You know if you have got theological bunions God will heal them. But my friends we need to see what God says, not what man’s theology teaches us.
So we see here that God selects and God elects and I believe that having come to another general election in this country we need to understand God did not select or elect the system of democracy and that is why Britain should return and we need to go back a long time to return to a Theocratic system. “Oh but that will never happen, that’s pie in the sky, you’re a typical preacher!” “You’re just standing there inventing theological castles in the sky; we live in the 21st century, the real world.” Well as someone who has stood for Westminster twice I’m not just talking from the top of my head, my friends, the whole system is corrupt from top to bottom and we know that.
So we need to begin to believe God that once more our nation… is going to be a Theocracy. I don’t see Tony Blair getting a position of power when Jesus returns, do you? Why do you think the Tower of London is still standing? It will serve its purpose yet once more. But seriously, I just wanted to make that point.
Let us move on to Chapter 3:1-3
1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
This of course had a partial fulfilment in John the Baptist which we will look at. But there are a people in Britain today in so-called Christianity who are praying and believing God and crying out to God for revival. Oh, remember the revivals we had of old, remember the Wesleyan Whitfield revival, remember when Moody came, remember William Booth and others, the great revivals of the past. I used to be quite a student of revivals; it is a very interesting subject to look at times in our nation’s history when our nation was at a very low ebb spiritually and God poured out His Spirit, saved many, many people, raised up churches in the last revival of 1904/5 and so on.
Here Malachi is telling us that there are people who are seeking the Lord, but it says that the Lord will suddenly come to His temple, and the Angel of the Covenant in whom He delights. “Behold He comes sayeth Jehovah.” There is a message here for us, I believe, a very timely message; it is one thing to pray for revival, one thing to pray for God to move. But look what it says here in verse 2, “but who shall endure the day of His coming, who shall stand when He appears?” Because, my friends, He is not coming to be nice to us, He is coming as a refiner’s fire!
I was praying before I came here and some one pulled me up because I prayed that God would bless the nation and he said I can’t pray that; the nation deserves judgement! There is a truth in that too; this nation is ripe for judgement but we have to remember in times past our nation has been ripe for judgement and God chose to bless us with revival. I believe Malachi is telling us here it is one thing to pray for God to move, but what would we do if He really did? He would have to burn up a lot of the dross from our nation. My friends, all you have to do to learn what God would burn up is take a walk through these streets. Babylon everywhere, commercialism, paganism, idolatry, love of money, all these things He’d have to burn all that up, wouldn’t He?
That’s not a problem, except how much of that stuff is in Babylon? You know it says in Revelation Chapter 18:4 “Come out of her my people.” Come out of Babylon but then your problem is not how much we are in Babylon, it is how much Babylon is in us? What I’m saying is, it is one thing to pray for God to move but if you’re not right with God and He does come He’s coming as fire! He is coming as fire my friends and you know you can not turn round and pray “O God move mightily in this land.” But then turn round and be cosy up to Roman Catholic harlotry system, a lot of Christians want to buddy up to Catholicism, Romanism, Popery but also pray for God to move.
We are either out of Babylon altogether or we are attached to Babylon and when God comes He is going to burn up every thing that is of Babylon, and that means part of you. I believe God is telling us here this is the reason why we haven’t seen revival because there are too many people who think, “Oh, that Pope who has just died wasn’t a bad person.” Neglecting the fact that he presided over the biggest pagan system of all one million souls or more, one million souls bound for eternal damnation. I’m not saying that some Catholics aren’t born again, I don’t mean that. What I am saying is that the whole Babylonian system is cursed of God; anybody who is attached to it, the Bible says will be partakers of the plagues. Read Revelation 18 and you will see what I am saying.
It says He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver and He will purify the children of Levi and purge them as gold and silver. What does that mean to us, what prophetic significance does that have to us today? We have just elected members to the House of Parliament; now we have got our own Mickey Mouse toy-town Parliament in Scotland, but this particular election is to Westminster, it is not toy-town politicians, it is the real deal. Why is this verse here significant to us? I’ll tell you, because when he refers to Levi, and remember Malachi was written primarily to Levi, you have to understand the function of the Levitical Tribe in the nation Israel. Most scholars will tell you that the Levite Tribe was of course the tribe set apart by God to perform the temple duties, worship duties or to be the spiritual ministry in ancient Israel. But they were not just that, the tribe of Levi did not just function in that spiritual ministry; they were also what we would call today the civil servants. They performed administrative functions in Israel; they did other things besides the spiritual ministry. We are talking about a big tribe, they weren’t all priests in that sense. Some of them were what we would call civil servants. They had an administrative function.
One of the things that we forget and ought to keep reminding our MPs is that they are servants of the state or should be, or servants of the people just like the Levite tribe. You see God forever settled the question of who would be the administrative tribe in Israel; He said it is the tribe of Levi. So you didn’t get elected to do those jobs you were born into it. There were no elections.
Friends, I believe God is speaking prophetically here in showing us that it is His intention to purify that administrative or legislative function in the nation, and you know something that is our political structure, this whole edifice of those who are supposed to serve us as servants of the people. You know, we use the term “Prime Minister” what does it mean? Prime servant; he who wants to be greatest among you, Jesus said, shall be the servant of all. And I always used to say, and I still say, if anybody wants to be Prime Minister that ought to be an automatic disqualification! Because God chose Moses to lead the people of Israel, he was if you like the first Prime Minister or President of the Israel people. But Moses was the meekest man on the face of the earth, he did not seek the office and it wasn’t until God in the backside of the desert for 40 years burned all his ambitions out of him, before he could be used.
So the ambition to be a great one was one ought to disqualify us for political office anyway, He will purify the children of Levi. How do you know when a politician is lying? His lips are moving! And He is speaking here, I believe prophetically to say to us that God’s purpose….You see, some of you may say “Lord let the Tories win”
But the important thing about it is this, it is not, Oh let so and so win, it is all about saying Lord raise up over those whom you would have, let the servants, the true servants in our nation rise up to take political office as they did in the times of the Puritans. You know I like to speak about Oliver Cromwell. As I start to speak about him I’ll end up preaching a sermon from him. Cromwell was a man who did not seek that office, it was thrust upon him. “Oh, is that not the guy who beheaded Charles I and hated royalty?” No! Cromwell was a monarchist until he was faced with the absolute treachery of the Stuart monarch, Charles I, and had exhausted all means on Charles and gave him every chance possible before he took the terrible decision to behead Charles I.
You know Cromwell was offered the Kingdom, was offered the Throne, the Crown and any history book will tell you that after much fasting and prayer Cromwell refused the Crown, it wasn’t God’s will. What a man! Who can image the present Prime Minister refusing the Crown if it were offered? I think he thinks he already has it!
You see the difference my friends, men who put the will of God first, men who put the nation first and lastly their own desires; that is what we are looking for and that is what God is telling us. I will purify the children; I will purify the administrative, legislative and political and civil service functions so that we have people over us who serve first and foremost the will of God, then the House of David and very last their own interests. That is true purging and purifying. Purging of gold and silver, that takes a lot of purging, that takes a lot of burning and melting and so on in the fiery furnace; burning all the chaff off. Then it says, they shall offer unto Jehovah an oblation of righteousness.
“Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.” Malachi.3:2-4.
Now what’s this! “You’re stretching things a bit preacher!” Really? read verse 5:
“And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, (or liars) and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.”
That sounds like the Houses of Parliament to me! Full of liars, adulterers, false swearers, oppressors, sorcerers, homosexuals etc., and of course remember Cromwell encountered much the same in his day and walked out of it for the rest of his life.
“I will come near to you to judgement.”
We want God to come near to us, but He says I’m coming near to judgement
“I will be a swift witness against sorcerers, and against the adulterers.”
And look at what he says here. I will be a witness against those that turn aside the stranger of the foreigner from his right, and fear not me saith Jehovah of hosts.“Fear not me, the stranger from his right.” What does that mean? Does that mean God is rebuking those who are against immigration or those who are against asylum seekers, and He’s saying they have all got a right to come here? That is not what He is saying. What is the right of the foreigner or the stranger in God’s land, what was it in ancient Israel, what should it be in Britain?
Let me tell you what it shouldn’t be first, it ought not to be the right to come and rule over us, it ought not be the right to come here and lie about their application and get to stay here because the government doesn’t have the will to throw them out. And let me tell you the one thing they ought not to have the right to do, it ought not to be the right to come and erect pagan shrines to heathen spirits either. They didn’t have that right as a foreigner in ancient Israel. The right of the foreigner in ancient Israel was to come and to be accepted provided they learned to worship the True God. We are denying people that right by our multicultural multi-faith society. “Oh come and do what you want, come and have your own way, come and have your own religion.” We think that that is giving them rights; my friends, that is denying them rights, the right to know the true God.
If we made it a matter of acceptance in this country that the only way you can come is that you learn the political system, learn the language, learn our customs, learn our ways and agree that you will not practice your false religion. But you will attend Bible believing churches. How many would be wanting asylum then?
You know in this place. I believe this place is blessed of God because the right of the foreigner is given here; in fact this church is investing a lot of money to turn these rooms here into a place where foreign people can come and worship and has always been that place, this the so-called racist centre. But people of other cultures, people of other races, have come here for many years to worship. That’s the real right for the foreigner. That is why I believe this place is blessed because these people can come here and learn the Christian faith. And they are blessed of God because they are bowing down to the true God.
“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts…. ” .
Malachi Chapter 4: “For,behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.”
One of the things we have to accept is that when God comes, He is coming to settle the books! He is coming to settle the accounts. Is that speaking about the second coming? Well we know what is going to happen then, but you know something I’m not preaching the second coming of Jesus today, because I’m not saying today that we need to rely on the second advent of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to turn this nation round. Our nation has been in a dreadful condition many times in the past and Jesus didn’t come then, but He sent and poured out His Holy Spirit and the nation turned around, it can happen again.
But we have to understand that when He comes He comes burning as a furnace and the proud and all wickedness shall be stubble. The good news is He is coming, but look what it says:
” But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”
So for those who fear or revere or honour the Name it is good news! But to all those in Babylon or all those tainted with Babylon the plagues are coming.
Verse 3: “And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.”
When you see our nation overrun with wickedness and with wicked people that isn’t the time to despair, that isn’t the time to think well you know maybe I’ll just quit the church and just become a heathen, that is not the time to become all doom and gloom, that is not the time to start begging Jesus to come back. My friends that is the time to go out and buy a good strong pair of walking boots because you’re going to need them to tread down the ashes of the wicked. That is what the Bible says, we need to get positive about what God says, and the wicked will be like ashes under the soles of your feet.
How many today believe that God is about to move? I know I do. But it is not going to be pretty and it isn’t going to be pleasant, there is going to be a lot of upheaval. But as I have always preached and always believed when everything else is settled the Covenant people of Jehovah will stand, when everything else falls apart. Verse 4 says:
“Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.”
What does He mean there? Well of course he is writing to Israel in the Old Testament, Malachi being the last book of the Old Testament. He is sending God’s people back to the Book, back to the Book. When the Protestant Reformation hit the shore of Britain it was a reformation of the Book, and we raised up a people of the Book.
“Oh, God’s going to do a new thing we won’t need this old thing any more,” some people might tell you. Oh no! When God moves it is always back to this, if the Holy Spirit is moving at all He is always going to lead you back to this, back to the Law, back to the Book, back to what God says.
We have moved away from what God says and we live in a land today where it is a choice between what Tony says or what Hecht says, or Charles Kennedy says, you see what I’m saying? Or what the Daily Telegraph says, or what the Daily Mirror says, or what the taxman says, when was it last raised. Well what does God have to say? Well it says remember the Law, go back to the Book. This is what will happen if you believe in for God to move. It is back to the Book. Remember the Law remember what God says.
Verse 5-6: “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall tum the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.”
What does that mean? Well British Israelites believe in the Elijah revival don’t we? The coming Elijah ministry that will turn back the nation to God ushering a mighty restoration, Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 17 when Elijah comes he will restore all things. And of course he said that John the Baptist was Elijah but that was a partial fulfillment of the Elijah promise to Israel. There is still an End Days Elijah ministry to come restoring all things.
It is interesting when you begin to look at Elijah (the word means My God is Jehovah, or Jehovah is God) the restoration ministry. Look what he does, he restores God’s natural order, he’ll turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers.
I spoke earlier about homosexuality, even secular psychologists say that one of the root causes of homosexuality is where children and fathers don’t properly relate, it is an imbalance or something missing in the father/child relationship for both men and women. Notice he restores what is natural. We live in a primarily feminist society today maybe some of you men have noticed that. That is because God’s natural laws have been thrown out. But Elijah comes to restore all things which includes the patriarch to his proper place. Man as the head of women, not every woman, man as the head of woman as the head of his wife. That does not mean that all men are superior to women and can boss them around. But in the family order man is the head of the woman.
So this has been about two elections, we have seen how God wants to purify our nation by purifying the political system maybe scrapping it all together and raising up a Theocracy, Oh, wouldn’t that be wonderful?
There’s a message in this verse here to an election that has just taken place, the election of the new Pope (the word pope comes from a root word meaning father) I read something that a Roman Catholic had said; that interim period when they have to elect a new Pope they do not like, because they need somebody as figurehead of the church, a father figure a rock. But I see there the whole system of the papacy imploding a counterfeit of the Elijah ministry.
Elijah comes to restore the Father figure of God to the nation and true fatherhood to the nation. But we see in the Man of Sin over in the Vatican, the antichrist, the beast; we see that counterfeit Elijah ministry, a false father. Jesus said call no man father, but that is what he is after being called, that is what the word pope means.
But friends, we can say God is our Father, we have a father, our Father in Heaven. So the Elijah ministry is coming to restore and bring back again to our nation a proper Divine government. We have to get away from the idea of democracy and back to the whole notion that this book is what governs us and men who are steeped in the book and raised up by God among us who will govern us. And our Royal House is to be governed by this book and all houses of Parliament even that pretend-one up the road has to be governed by this book.
So it is a Theocracy. We believe in God for not an ecclesiocracy, we don’t want the church to run the nation, just as we don’t want fallen men and women to run the nation, we want God to run the nation. You know God did a pretty good job of raising up leaders, I don’t know if you noticed that, Moses wasn’t too shoddy neither was Joshua, then the system of judges.Well some were better than others but the important thing is who God raises up. When did we last even ask the question who does God want to govern us? Because let me tell you that’s where the blessing for us is. That is why we should be praying for our Royal House because out of that, the seed of David, will come forth the true anointed monarch and then in terms of the ministers we need to be asking God to raise up His choice. God elects and we need to let Him do the electing.
“Oh I like the power of being able to sign the ballot paper.” We don’t have such power, only God does. Then we see here the papacy, this new one that we have got, another hard liner we are told. Well I don’t know that they elect anything else in the Vatican. But I want to say this again, it doesn’t matter although like me you may have been sickened by the sight of so-called Protestant leaders fawning over this new Man of Sin that we have. Friends, we are in God’s hands and that is the important thing, let God do the electing and let us do the following.
Amen.
And may God’s will be done in our nation!
