LIGHT FOR THE JOURNEY
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was  founded upon a rock. Matthew 7:25
Just as a house is built on a foundation, so each life has a foundation upon which it is built. And the strength of the foundation determines the strength of the building.
There are many things that people today build their lives upon-
Some people  build their lives upon their good looks. But will good looks last? Some  people build their lives upon their talents;  but will their talents always  remain? Many people  build their lives around another person a child, a friend,  a spouse; but will that  other  person always be there?
Some  people build their lives upon  their riches,  but as we have seen many times in the past, a man can be separated from  his  riches almost overnight. Some reading  this may  have  seen half or more  of their  life savings disappear in the last few years.
Tomorrow is promised to no man, and no one knows what the future holds. Of all the foundations that people build their lives upon, Â the only SURE foundation in this world is the Word of Almighty God, the Holy Bible.
You see, the things  of this world  will all pass. Everything around you is changing, growing, decaying all the time. Your friends may not always be there. Your riches could  vanish  in an instant.  You could  lose your talents and abilities through some tragedy, or simply by growing old. But, though  heaven and earth  pass away, the  Word  of God  abides forever, unchanging and constant.
The Lord Jesus Christ said  that  if we  will hear  His Words (listen to Him) and obey His commands, we are like  a house builder that  built  his  house upon a foundation of solid rock:
“Therefore  whosoever heareth  these  sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man,  which built his house  upon  a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it  fell not:  for it was  founded upon a rock.” Matthew  7:24-25
But if we do not obey His Word, He said that we are like a house builder that built his house upon sand; and a house that is built upon sand  will fall apart:
”And every  one  that  heareth these  sayings  of mine, and doeth them  not, shall be likened  unto  a foolish man, which built his house  upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the  floods came, and the winds  blew, and beat upon  that  house;  and it fell: and great was the  fall of it.” Matthew  7:26-27
Your life foundation is of utmost importance. What is your life built on?
If you are building your life upon anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Word, you are building your life on sand, and when the storms of life come, you will  fall apart. But, if you build your house upon the rock solid foundation of God’s Holy Word, you will never fall!
You can  depend upon  God  and  His Holy Word  in every area of your life. He is always there. He is constant and unchanging, and  His Word is forever settled in heaven. Read your Bible. Get to know His Word intimately, and live your life according to its Words. For if you will do this, you will have the strength and the courage to face any storm  that life throws your way. And each time, you will weather the storm; because you are founded upon the Rock of all ages – and that is a SURE FOUNDATION
