CHAPLAIN’S PAGE: THE GATES OF HELL
England
One of the profoundest statements ever made was by Sir Arthur Bryant, author of ‘Set in a Silver Sea‘. He said ‘a nation which forgets its past has no future.’ This, sadly, has been our national trait throughout our long history. Those of us who are blessed with the knowledge of our identity, (and greatly denigrated by those who should know better) constantly think back to our roots. That we are encouraged to do so was made manifestly clear by Isaiah.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.[ISAIAH 51:1-2]
Here, we are enjoined in no uncertain manner to look back to our founding fathers. Why should we do so? In a few words, because they were chosen by God for a special long-term purpose. The Lord knew their every thought , and how they would react under any circumstance. Knowing their special qualities, He used them to bring into being a nation that would have a profound effect upon the gentile nations in order to bring them to knowledge of Himself.
All this, on the surface sounds a simple plan, a nation leading by example. However, it is not so simple. The factor which dramatically changed what could have been a simple matter, was that the founding fathers, and those who came after, were given the gift of freewill. They could, if they so wished, ignore the rules and cause every kind of difficulty and problems for themselves and the gentile nations. A cursory look at the kings of Israel and Judah will confirm that most of them did so. Some will say that God could have made things easier if He had not given them freewill. However, the effect of that would have produced a nation of robots; a pre-programmed race, unable to make any decisions outside of their orbit. For a nation to have a profoundly good effect upon others, they must act of their own free will. Any other way would defeat the purpose of God’s plan.
Some are only too well aware that nationally, we have trodden the path of defiance to God ‘s Law throughout the centuries, perhaps never more so than today. We have not only ignored the instruction manual, God’s wonderful Word, but even polluted it by so called modern translations based, supposedly on ‘modern research’. These have been foisted upon the faithful by the One-Worlders as a means to bring about their dream of a utopian society. Some will say, is this not what we have always hoped for? Indeed so, but a utopian society based upon what? Man will say, based upon his best endeavours. The key factor which is ignored is the fact:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. (Jeremiah 17:9-10)
This being so, it does not sound a good principle on which to build a utopian society!
The choice of Abraham as the basis of this earthly society cannot fail. The reason is that God is Almighty, and Satan is only mighty, thank God for the difference. The long-term fulfilment of God’s plan from Abraham still awaits its ultimate fulfilment. The day is shortly coming when man’s politics will be superceded by God’s politics. A miraculous change from chaos to Christ. Theocratic government will be established and all other forms of government will be no more. No longer will we have to endure the hollow promises of ever smiling politicians wallowing in a quagmire of lies and deceit. The basis of the coming rule will be the Royal Law of the Almighty God in Christ, seated upon His Throne in His Holy City.
The entire world will be ruled from that place, where living waters will flow now from that sacred rock.
And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea; in summer and in· winter shall it be. (Zechariah 14:8)
We must constantly be on our guard at this time of the end, for Satan knows exactly where we are in God ‘s timetable. He knows that he has but a short time, (Revelation 12:12) in which to frustrate God ‘s plan. In spite of the fact that his is fully aware that he will fail, this does not deter him in his blind rage and arrogance. The damage he is causing worldwide bares its own testimony of his success . We would naturally expect the world to be taken in by his barrage of lies but sadly he has also blinded the eyes of the church. We may well ask , how can it be blinded? (Matthew 16:18) So how is it that it is being destroyed before our eyes? Because many of the clergy are denying the Living Word of God. Their foul work gathers pace. They have allowed themselves to be blinded to the truth, and God has given them over to a lying spirit. The day of great apostasy has arrived and millions are being deceived. Many pastors, worldwide teach a new gospel built upon their dream of a one-world religion. The church continues with its slumber whilst the enemy advances step by step towards it’s goal. That goal is the total destruction of our Christian heritage. All this ably abetted by the faithless pastors who are the willing tools of Satan.
When will the laity wake up and realise that they are being fed a false gospel? One sees comments in the press such as ‘Christianity is a spent force’: Professor Dawkins and his ilk are making fortunes with their books informing a gullible public that belief in a Creator God is outmoded.
They won ‘t say that when they stand before the Judge at the Great White Throne!
Matthew 16:18 was quoted above to the effect that the church will prevail in spite of all that is against it. Yet we are witnessing its destruction. Has God therefore failed in that promise? Indeed no, for no promise of God can fail. The destruction we are forced to witness is the pulling down of the visible church. The true church, God ‘s precious and Holy church, is the invisible church. Those wonderful folk who remain faithful to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Those who love the Lord Jesus, and their faith rests upon His shed blood at Calvary. Such souls will be found within the visible church, and some without, He knows where they are. That is the true church which can never be destroyed. Satan with all his guile and lies will never harm those precious ones. He knows where they are to be found, for they are the true church. Neither race nor creed makes any difference, they are the Lord’s jewels, the church which can never be destroyed.
Take heart, dear reader, whilst all is falling apart around you, and you watch our civilisation crumbling, take heart! This man-made edifice is shortly to pass away. In its place will be God’s edifice, one of joy, contentment, peace and love. All this will be made possible because of what our wonderful blessed Saviour did for us when He shed His precious blood on that tree two thousand years ago.
