BELIEVING IN AN ALMIGHTY SPIRIT IN A CARNAL WORLD
John 4:24: “God is Spirit,(meaning not flesh or material substance) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
 There is so much panic going on in the media now that I have almost given up on looking at the papers. Trouble is I need to keep looking for the things that others take no notice of; but to me as a Bible believing Christian and expecting the LORD’s soon return, I need to keep looking for the signs, as we are commanded to do:
“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” – (Luke 21:28)
“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” – (Luke 21:34)
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” –Â (Luke 21:36)
Now that I know sounds as if I am some religious crank, maybe I am, but I just happen to believe God when He says through His prophets and Apostles and in particular the Lord Himself, that at some point in history He will return and that there will be certain signs for those watching and trusting in Him to know when His time is near. He came the first time just as God had predicted through His prophets so why not again just as predicted? This doesn’t sound so outlandish to me. To a non-believer it probably does, but I can’t help it if they choose not to believe, the signs are there for them to see if only they would.
But then Jesus did point out that in the last days the vast majority of people will be going about their daily lives working, playing and doing all the other things society does. And that the end will come upon them suddenly and swiftly, but for those who do believe they will be able to prepare themselves for the return of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
(Luke 17:26- 29) – “And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.”
We know that God promised He would not destroy the earth again by water – hence the true and original designation of the RAINBOW – that is the sign of God’s promise. But the next destruction will be by fire and we have already seen that happen with Sodom and Gomorrah as an example of what God can and will do when necessary.
When the Lord returns, this is what He says:
(Luke 19:27) – “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”
 Then after the 1000 year reign of the Lord on earth, Satan being released again to expose those who will still not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their God and King:
(Revelation 20:7 – 9) – “And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they (God’s enemies) went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”
 I know it is not fashionable these days to think that a God Who is Love, is also a God of Righteousness, Judgment and punishment and that this same God Who loves us is also the same God Who will finally judge our thoughts and actions and pass sentence on us, which is ultimately, for those who will not accept, the second death in the Lake of fire along with Satan and his hordes.
Our obsessive love affair with science and technology and the evolution myth has dulled our senses to our spirituality and thus the churches have become apostate, and man in general has turned his back on his God and from the reality of God and His awesome power. So most people today cannot comprehend this Almighty Spirit, He doesn’t fit in with their perceived idea of man’s existence and yet they are prepared to believe in aliens from another galaxy far, far away who have apparently seeded this planet and then left us to get on with it. There are groups of people desperately searching the skies and as far out into the universe as they can get trying to find these “aliens”.
Oh they’re out there alright and in the words of Mr Spock of Star Trek fame: “It’s life Jim, but not as we know it.” The “aliens” I speak of, of course are the Angels (or messengers). Spirit beings created by God to do His bidding.
But also as St Paul tells us:
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – (Ephesians 6:12)
 These are Satan’s minions, and they are spirits or demons and they too are out there, but are working to destroy God’s creation. You don’t have to be rolling around on the floor foaming at the mouth to be possessed by a demon. They are much more subtle than that, they plant ideas into the unsuspecting victim’s mind so that he/she doesn’t even know that such a thing has happened and they go about their lives promoting these ideas of wokery, political correctness, cancel culture, sexual perversions, and etc. Everyone thinks these are just the latest social ideas and maybe we should all be following them. What they do not realise is the spiritual wickedness that is behind these ideas and how it is all done to mislead mankind down the broad path away from God.
That is why all this panic and rush to stop climate change will not work, it cannot succeed without God’s intervention, for it is of Him. God controls the weather and nature, He upholds all things, it is only due to His Spiritual Presence that all things continue.
But there is to be and end of this age, and we are I believe at that end now. God is calling time on us and we must prepare to meet our Maker!
God told the Prophet Ezra:
“By measure hath he measured the times; and by number hath he numbered the seasons; and he shall not move nor stir them, until the said measure be fulfilled.” – (2 Esdras 4:37) (Alternative reading: … “And has measured, and carefully counted the hours, and He will not move or disturb them, until the prescribed measure is reached.”)
But it is not just nature that is changing, mankind is changing and I believe this is God preparing us for the new age, the Kingdom age, as there are signs here and there of man’s desire to get back to a more peaceful, natural, creative way of life. But overall the tendency is to intolerance, fear, selfishness, greed, all kinds of wickedness and yes ultimately war (witness China,) Iran Russia North Korea etc. are becoming more and more aggressive).
God has said that if He doesn’t intervene, we WILL destroy ourselves! But He will not let this happen,
(Matthew 24:22) – “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”
Again He says to Ezra:
“And [before] the present years were sought out, and or ever the imaginations of them that now sin were estranged, before they were sealed that have gathered faith for a treasure: Then did I consider these things, and they all were made through me alone, and through none other: by me also they shall be ended, and by none other.” – (2 Esdras 6:5, 6).
So I would not condemn the efforts of some to “save” the planet, except in trying to do it without God; it is bound to fail
“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh (stays awake) but in vain”. – (Psalm 127:1)
We know what we must do, God has told us:
“… Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts…” – (Malachi 3:7).
 People say: “Where is thy God?” in all the chaos today.
And God says:
“… I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward (meaning: perverse/stubborn/ deviant) generation (or race), children in whom is no faith.” – (Deuteronomy 32:20)
Although this was said to Israel a long time ago, it is still very relevant if not more so now.
God is watching the world in general and waiting for that moment when the “measured times” and the “numbered seasons” are fulfilled. Then He will act, true believers will rejoice at His coming, but those, His enemies will try to fight or hide. But fighting will be pointless and there will be nowhere to hide from the all-seeing, all-knowing Almighty Spirit that is El Shaddai (GOD Almighty).
His call to us is this:
(2 Chronicles 7:14) – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
 Even so, come Lord Jesus!
