THE ENSIGN MESSAGE

EARTHQUAKES AND LIVING WATERS

By

If we were  to consider certain scriptures found in the Old Testament, that the Suez Canal and  the Gulf of Suez  would  become impassable as  a seafaring highway at the end of the age, most people would lift their eyebrows and  question this possibility.   Then again, if you were  to State that the scriptures foretell the cleavage of the Mount of Olives may soon happen and that living water  would  go forth out of the city of Jerusalem, most  people would not only lift their eyebrows, but would  shake their heads and possibly think this young  Pastor has  really gone  off the deep end. Surely this Pastor needs counselling quickly or he is certain to flip his fundamentals.

While looking through my library, I found to my surprise some  maps of Palestine prepared for Sir J. W Dawson shortly after the turn of the century. As I studied them, I began to realize a secret that the Lord wanted me  to know.  God  had  shed some light on  certain scriptures or prophecies, which would be another sign of Christ’s imminent return  to earth.  For Christ comes not this time as just the religious leader, but as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” to bring justice and peace to this troubled world, the political head or governor over His people and of His Kingdom.

Since   Palestine sits  upon   Hot  Springs and  an earth-quake fault, the two statements made regarding the Suez Canal and the cleavage of the Mount of Olives, thus making  possible living waters to flow out of Jerusalem, is not so far fetched  as one might believe. God, I believe, has given me that light regarding certain scriptures  that were once  shadowed in darkness. Let us move to the word of God and see what our Maker has prophesied  through the prophets concerning these scriptures. In Isaiah we read:

”And the Lord shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake  his hand  over the river, and shall smite it in the  seven  streams, and  make  men  go over dryshod. An there shall  be  an  highway  for the remnant of his  people, which  shall  be left,  from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that  he came up out  of the land   Egypt.”  (!sa. 11: 15-16.)

Careful reading of these scriptural passages will show these verses  to be future. First, we see that it is to happen to the  people who  were left from  the Assyrian captivity. Secondly, this is a reference to Israel stating it will happen after the day that he (Israel) came up out the land of Egypt.

As we read and study the tongue  of the great river the Nile – the tongue  is that part that sticks  out from the main stream of the river-  we discover that it has seven outlets. In recent years there were  two outlets being used, the Rosetta and the Damietta. Today only one being used;  the others are so badly silted in they cannot be used.

It is obvious that these physical changes as described in prophecy  have not taken place,  but it is quite with the realm of possibility. From the work done  by Sir W. Dawson we see geological formation with the volcanic areas indicated, where upheavals presently occur. Note how  faults lie in the earth’s crust,  which  runs down through the middle of Palestine,  north and south, and through  East Africa. Having studied geology at the University of Minnesota, I  can  understand the consequences of an  earthquake if  it should  happen here in Palestine (Israel). Looking at the map of the Holy Land, we can plainly see the volcanic areas and the line of fault which  runs north  and  south through this country. There is no doubt  in my mind that there is a giant fire box just under the surface in this Wadi Arabah. Throughout Palestine there  are  numerous sulphur springs which act as safety valves. Past history, as in the records, created  this area of the Dead Sea as a result of an earthquake. What we see coming to this land in the future provides another fulfillment of prophecy. Besides creating this great valley, the land would split in an east and west  direction, causing the making  of a new waterway from the Mediterranean to the Dead Sea. This Dead Sea, as the word of God states, will become “Living Waters.” The scripture states:

”And his  feet shall  stand  in that  day upon  the mount of Olives, which is before  Jerusalem  on the east,  and  the  mount of Olives  shall  cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and towards the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove  toward  the north, and half of it toward  the south. And ye shall  flee to the valley of the  mountains; for the  valley  of the m01fntains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall  flee, like as ye  fled from before  the earthquake in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah; and the Lord my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.” (Zech. 14: 4-5.)

After this earthquake we shall  see  the waters of the Mediterranean Sea flow eastward from the town of Azal, now called Ascalon, to the great valley wherein lies the Dead Sea. On the map  of the Holy Land we see  the Valley of Achor which  is also  known  as  the Valley of Hope where this parting of the land will split the Mount of Olives down to Azal or Ascalon:

”And it shall be in that  day, that  living  waters shall go out  from Jerusalem; half of them  toward the   former  sea,  and  half  of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and  in winter shall  it be. And the  Lord shall  be king  over  all the  earth: in that  day  shall  there  be one  Lord,  and  his  name one.” (Zech. 14: 8-9)

This mighty rush of water  from the Mediterranean Sea  uncontrolled would create an  enormous whirlpool  and  flooding  in the valley of the Dead Sea or the Jordan Cavity. The vast gyration of the water striking at the Wadi Arabah, finding no other outlet, would  escape into  the Gulf of Akaba. For centuries this ancient gully, now dry filled with sand,  would  be carried by this water from the Mediterranean Sea into the Gulf of Akaba.  Thus living waters would  spring forth as  God  has  so  ordained. Thus  the  Dead  Sea would become “Living Waters”.

Jordan  Valley (North and South)

  • Fault begins in Taurus Mountains in Turkey, goes through Jordan Valley, then on to the Gulf of Ahaba, across the Red  Sea  ending in  the  Transvaal in Southern Africa.
  • The Sea   of  Galilee is  600  feet   below the Mediterranean Sea.
  • The   Dead    Sea  is   1292   feet  below  the Mediterranean Sea.

It was at Ezion Gebir where Solomon built his ships and stationed his navy. Today this same city is known as Ainel-Ghudyan, now only approximately ten miles north and up from the dry bed of the Arabah. In the ancient of times during Solomon’s reign, this dry bed   of the Arabah, was a port of the Gulf of Akaba, the other tongue of the Red Sea. When  the Mediterranean Sea rushes through this fault caused by the upcoming earth-quake, tons of sand will be forced through this Gulf of Akaba and  the Dead Sea will be, as the prophecy  states  in Zechariah 14: 8, living waters.  In Psalm 46 most Bible enthusiasts believe this Psalm is just a hymn of praise, but with the above  knowledge of this earthquake we have a better  understanding of this phenomenon. As stated by the psalmist:

“There is  a  river, the  streams  whereof shall make glad  the  city  of God,  the  holy  place  of the tabernacles of the  most High.” (Ps. 46: 4.)

The Psalmist tells of waters  roaring, the mountains shaking,  and  the  mountains being  carried into  the midst of the sea.  When  does  the Psalmist  say it is to happen? Verse nine states that when  Christ comes as “King of Kings and  Lord of Lords,” He will put down or make  wars  to cease unto  the end  of this age  or world . Only  to  God’s elect does God  show His wonders; while the rest keep on preaching: the blind leading the blind. I pray for them that they might come to their senses, shake off the traditional things,  the man structured church, and come out of Babylon to the true God.

Zechariah 14: 5 states that those in the land when the earthquake comes shall flee from this cleavage  of the mountains, as those  of long ago fled in the days of Uzziah. This is future my dear friends. God will open the windows to heaven to you if you desire the truth and come out of these  places which  is tradition.

When the Wadi Arabah was formed, it left the Dead Sea area 1260 feet below the level of the Mediterranean Sea.  According to  Professor Boyd  Dawkins, who prepared these maps of Egypt and Palestine, Professor Dawkins conjectures that at the point of Kena, the Nile flowed east and north on its way to the gulf of Akaba centuries ago. According to Isaiah we read:

”And  shall come to pass  in that day, that the Lord  shall beat  off  from the  channel of the  river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one  by one, O ye children of Israel.” (Isa. 27: 12.)

Thus Isaiah 11 : 15-16 is a future prophecy- destroying the tongue of the Egyptian Sea with the seven streams is about to happen in the future. From the Ferrar Fenton translation concerning the destruction of the tongue of the Egyptian Sea we read the same  passage:

”And  the  Lord  dry  the  tongue of the  Mitzerite sea-shake His hand  o’er the River in violent wind, make its seven streams fail, and  be  travelled in shoes, and  become a highway for the  rest  of His People, who are  still  scattered in Ashur, As to Israel  it was in the day he came  up out  of Mitzer.” (Isa. 11: 15-16, Ferrar Fenton Trans.)

Prophecy that  has not as yet happened, this geological disturbance, can also be found in Isaiah 29.

If we  read  in Isaiah  29: 1, 2, 6, 9, 10, 14-24 of our Bibles and then compare this prophecy with the Ferrar Fenton translation, we see a verification of this coming earthquake and wonders that will be a sign of Christ’s return.  Micah foresaw a great  physical  disturbance coming and calls to the people to listen  and, in speaking of the later days, he says:

“The Mighty Lord comes against you, the  Lord starts from  His  Holy  Abode! For look! The  Lord comes from His Home, descends, and  proceeds on the heights of the earth! And beneath Him the hills are dissolved, and  the  plains are like  wax before fire, as water poured  down from a steep!” (Mikah 1: 2-4, Ferrar Fenton Trans.)

“Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land  of Egypt utterly waste and  desolate, from the  tower of Syene  even unto the border of Ethiopia.” (Ez. 29: 10.)

When studying Daniel and Joel, along with Micah, Isaiah,  the Gospels  and  Revelation, we find that the prophets were instructed by God Himself, so that the wisdom of man will be upset,  destroying its scientist, baffling science and its scholars.
