DANGER SIGNALS

THERE is currently much talk about Roman Catholicism. With the death of Pope John Paul II and the choosing of Pope Benedict XVI, on a backdrop of pedophilia – l ,911 priests on trial, and various controversies, the following are some pertinent things to consider. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Right Reverend Rowan Williams, has been quoted as saying that there should only be one pope, and he should be the Pope of Rome. This is not surprising, seeing that Williams believes little of anything about the truths of the Bible. The Anglican Church was founded on the principal that the Pope of Rome was wrong. In the case of Rowan Williams we must admit it would be difficult to determine whether he or the Pope of Rome is the greater detriment to true Christianity.

Patriarch Bartholomew I, spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, moved to break down barriers between Orthodox Churches and the Roman Catholic Church. A few months ago the late Pope handed over to him the relics of two orthodox saints that were brought to Rome from ancient Constantinople centuries ago. After centuries of division it seems that these two ancient enemies will come together. That would put Roman Catholism, Anglicanism and Orthodoxy under one head. The Protestant Church has lost its ability to protest! The charismatics will not protest anything because they do not want to offend anyone. If they do, it might adversely affect their profit margins! This group seems to have the idea that there should be no rules and that we should just have a good time. If the three mentioned above get together, the charismatics will make a bracelet, a plaque or some other piece of merchandise to commemorate this great event. They will be happy to send it upon request for a tax deductible gift of $100.00. The leaders of Methodism, Presbyterianism and Pentecostalism are mute about the atrocities that are being forced upon Christendom. Same sex marriages, ordinations of homosexuals and women have driven the major denominations either behind closed doors or to the enemy camp. It is interesting to note that there is no outcry from the Pope or his Bishops about the fact that the Ten Commandments are banned from public buildings in the United States. The Pope could protest as head of his nation, as well as head of his church. Maybe he is made mute because of the graven images that are promoted by his church. It could be silence produced by the many sexual sins of the priests whose escapades have cost the Roman Catholic coffers millions. There are many other issues that should be addressed by the Roman Catholic Church, but they never will be because of their allegiances with the kings of the earth.

What does all this mean? We are racing toward the End Time, and we do know that the great whore shall be judged. We have witnessed her whoredoms and have been sickened by them. We bemoan the fact that men like Billy Graham, Chuck Colson and others in the religious arenas heap praises on the Pope of Rome. We are further discouraged by the many political figures such as Newt Gingrich who considered Pope John Paul II to have been one of the outstanding men of this century. This drives home the realization that those who are crying out against the right of our government to dictate religious beliefs and practices, are few in number and will suffer great persecution. In fact, Bible-believing Christians who will stand upon their convictions are in the minority, and those who would raise their voice against the whore of Rome are an even smaller minority. Consider the possibility, if not the probability, of Pope Benedict XVI, acclaimed as the only true head of the church by the Anglicans and the Orthodox religions, the National Council of Churches and he World Council of Churches, with the silence of Charismatic and major Protestant denominations, becoming the most powerful religious leader we have ever known. Where Roman Catholicism is predominant there is persecution of true believers who dare to challenge them. We can therefore conclude that the great whore will persecute the true church and the Lord of Glory will be the only One Who can and will bring judgment upon her.

“And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will show unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”Revelation 17:1- 2
