CHAPLAIN’S PAGE – THE BETRAYAL

By

In every  area  of human activity there  are  basic fundamental rules  without which nothing could continue.   To quote  every example would be tedious, but a few obvious ones would be musicians,  doctors, cooks, pilots, mechanics, mathematicians and farmers. Whilst there are always those who have their own ideas not consistent with the norm, nevertheless, basic principles once established remain unchanged. Thus it is with the Creator.  Once the creation was completed, everything has been running like clockwork.  What else should we expect  from a wonderful  God who set the wheels in motion? As we look out into space and view galaxies many light years away, the immensity of it leaves us gasping. How can we even begin to comprehend the concept of black holes and an expanding universe?

When I consider thy heavens,the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

What is man, that  thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? (Psalm 8:3-4)

And again,

The heavens declare  the  glory  of God; and  the firmament sheweth his handywork.(Psalm 19:1)

In spite of the might and majesty of it all, there are those in every generation who are blind and cannot, or will not understand.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 14:1)

Everything which is created is based upon mathematical principles.  All that the Lord has made is weighed or measured. Isaiah challenges  the sceptics with these words,

Who hath measured  the waters in the hollow  of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended  the dust  of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? (Isaiah 40:12-13)

Who indeed!  Or who weighs the wind and the sea?

For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

To make the  weight  for the  winds; and  he weigheth the waters  by measure.

When he made  a decree  for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out. (Job 28:24-27)

Oh puny man  who  accepts and  used  the gifts of creation  that the Lord has provided, and at the same time despises the giver of the gift! Scoffers of the Creator are having the time of their lives, both within and without the church. Sadly, the church is riddled with clerics who despise not only the Scriptures, but even God in Jesus Christ.  The following was  written  by a priest of the Established Church. It appeared in the Sarum Link, the magazine of the Diocese of Salisbury. ‘While we have preaching that bangs on about salvation, while we have teaching that supposes that Scripture is some  sort of infallible rule book, so long will the public give up on us, and view us faintly ridiculous.’  The priest who penned these infamous words was Rev. Timothy Biles. Please will someone rid us of this turbulent priest, and others of his kind!  He has ridiculed the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, and pulled down the rock of Scripture. Such an attack is only to be expected from the public who have no conception of spiritual matters.  That this two pronged attack is from the church is proof, if proof be needed, that it has seriously lost the plot. Surely, one would have expected  that Mr Biles’ diatribe of hate and nonsense would have been stopped  before it reached the public.  The fact that it was printed and circulated would indicate  that the writer’s superiors  must  be in agreement,

For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house  of God: and if it  first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (I Peter 4:17)

Nationally we are in the midst of confusion, corruption and potent evil. This being so, it is imperative  that the Word of God be upheld and faithfully taught by those with the courage  to do so.  The mighty God who  has weighed  the sand and knows every star one from the other, cannot be thwarted by a mere priest who is Satan’s willing tool. Even the nations pose no threat to Him and are no more than a drop in a bucket  (Isaiah 40:15.) Those who oppose  or seek  to undermine the power and authority of the Ever living Christ, fail to comprehend that He is not just a representative of God who came to earth two thousand  years ago.   He is the Creator and sustainer of life, in whom we have our very being.

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians I:17)

Some  translations  say, ‘All things  hold  together.’ Let us seriously consider this statement. It is ‘He’, Christ who holds everything  together.   Every atom  in the universe which was created  only exists by His Power and Authority. Should that power and authority cease just for one second, the universe would be no more! The Rev. Biles on the other hand thinks it foolish to ‘bang on about salvation.’  He appears to have overlooked his ordination vows  where the  bishop  asked ‘Are you persuaded that the Holy Scriptures contain sufficiently all doctrine  required  of necessity for eternal  salvation through faith in Jesus Christ? And are you determined out of the said Scriptures to instruct the people committed to your charge,  and  to teach  nothing  (as required of necessity to eternal salvation) but that which you shall be persuaded may be concluded and proved by the Scriptures?’ Answer, I am so persuaded, and have so determined by God’s Grace.’

There is no question  that this man  has broken  his ordination vows, and yet is allowed  to continue  in the ministry. In God’s sight, he is a doomed  man.

It is a  fearful thing to  fall into the hands  of the living God. (Hebrews  10:31)

We wonder how many souls have been lost because of his betrayal? We long for the day foreseen by Jeremiah,

And I will give you  pastors  according  to mine heart,  which  shall  feed you  with  knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15)

Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus. Amen.
